Sunday Citar. Cake!

"Birthdays are nature's way of telling us to eat more cake!"

As I have mentioned before, it was my son's third birthday just over a week ago. Today, we had my family celebration and this meant... more CAKE! There's always a good reason to eat cake, right? I made the cake for him. He loves cars, so a little race track on a number 3 seemed like a good idea. And oh boy. It was delicious!!!

Sunday Citar

"A child's smile is like a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day." Author unknown

This week's Sunday Citar is a quote about children. I chose childhood because my big boy turned 3 on Friday and I love seeing his beautiful smile everyday :)

Sunday Citar

I'm joining in with Sunday Citar for the first time this week and as it's Valentine's Day and love is all around, what better theme to use, other than love? ahhhhh.

Fabric covered board

I've been thinking what I to do with my fabric from Amy Butler's love range. I love it so much and wanted to be able to look at it all the time.

As part of my "make my sewing spot beautiful" project, I wanted to make a fabric covered pin board. I had a light bulb moment in my head... "ahhh, THIS fabric will look great!" I wandered up to the local homewares store and bought some dotted pink ribbon, thumb tacks and a pin board to complete my project. I loaded up hubby's nail gun and shortly after, my job was complete!

I'm pretty happy with it and look forward to putting it on the wall :)

Happy Valentine's Day

Hope you have a lovely day with those you love :)

Mini vintage suitcases

How cute are these? I found them while googling and have bought a medium one and a small one for my sewing area that I'm slowly putting together. I bought a medium one in this apple green, and a small one in white.

Cute huh?

Happy Anniversary, spunky :)

We have been married for five wonderful years today. It truly was the best day of my life. I can still remember the feeling when the music that I had chosen to walk down the aisle started. I still tear up when I hear it :) The feeling of seeing Michael as I walked towards him will always stay with me. Such a magical day.

Happy Anniversary to the love of my life.

Grow old along with me! The best is yet to be xx

Here's a few pics of our day

I believe in the
beauty of our dreams,
the love we share
and the joy it brings.
I believe magic and miracles
can happen every day,
that wishes are granted
and dreams come true.
I believe in destiny,
I believe in you and me.

February Challenge - sewing with knit fabric

The next challenge for the 12 months 12 sewing challenge is to sew something in knit fabric. I'm a little scared of using the fabric, but I'm going to give it a go. I have been reading up on some tips, so all I can do is try!

One of my close girlfriends has a little boy the same age as my youngest son (9 months) and her husband plays soccer for a local team. He is really into his team... REALLY into it, so I'm going to make a little soccer shirt for the baby from one of his old shirts.

It's going to be a surprise for both parents, so I sneakily asked another guy from the soccer team for an old shirt. He got one for me and also asked if I could make a second shirt for his baby! So, it looks like I'll be making 2 shirts for this month's challenge!

Here is the shirt before I attacked it with scissors!

Here are the pattern pieces all cut out
